This session will feature five distinguished technopreneurship experts from the Philippines. Each person will give a short overview of their work and interest in entrepreneurship / technopreneurship / new ventures. They will provide an overview of the socio-cultural aspects within which they execute their activities executed.

These experiences will be compared and contrasted to the state of affairs in the US culture. The session will delve into a deep dive of:  1) the Filipino culture and any regional nuances that must be taken into account for a venture to be successful; 2) the business culture, more specifically, example where people go to get support for new ventures, the role of the government,  the prevailing attitudes towards failure etc, and ;  3) the main trends in the geopolitical context--is business executed in a closed or open system? Are their significant economic trading blocks in the region and how do these affect new ventures? Are some goods manufactured in China? Does the current state of US-China relations have any bearing on the Filipino Start-Up community?

These discussions will culminate in an interactive session with the audience through which the group will identify the main challenges of and best practices for teaching and learning about culture of a given context when setting up a new venture in an increasingly globalized context.
